17th/18th May - Largo, Florida to Chattanooga, Tennessee - 596 Miles

Made it to Chattanooga on Monday afternoon to visit Jim and his wife Gretchen. Jim was my very 1st pogo friend from over 7 years ago, and yes I met Jim aka Pilot in the Dip, my old stomping ground well before any league. He taught me MSN, what lol meant, what lmao meant and we have remained great friends. I don't think he really believed me when i kept saying one day I will meet you. I fell in love with the mountains that surround Chattanooga, after seeing days n days of flat land, the contrast was beautiful. Jim took me on a tour 1st day driving around and up onto Mont Lake Mountain, the views were spectacular, and yes of course we took a buggy ride around the golf course up there. Everywhere I go over here the Willcox or Wilcox name keeps popping up.

Tuesday we had a full day sightseeing, and with so much to see and do in beautiful surroundings, I had a lovely day. 1st up Gretchen and I took a train ride and Jim met up with us on the other end. You can't come to Choo Choo land without riding a train..lol. Yes we also visited the famous Choo Choo.

We lunched on the Tennessee Riverfront then we headed off to ride the incline train up Lookout Mountain, that was an experience in itself climbing 2300 feet with almost vertical at the top. Jim once again met Gretchen and I at the top. Once again spectacular views of Chattanooga and the surrounds. We also walked around Point Park, views again we amazing, and caught up on the history of the area during the battle of the North vs South.

Then off to Rock City, I was in total awe the whole time, unbelievable rock formations and the views simply amazing. Out on the lookout point you could see 7 states, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Kentucky, South n North Carolinas and Virginia.

lmao sorry Jim the devil made me do it !!!!!

I can't thank Jim and Gretchen enough for their wonderful hospitality and showing me the best of their City and the surrounds.

21st May - Chattanooga to Nashville via Mt Pleasant

Off I headed to Mt Pleasant to meet up with Leoni - Sash's mum. I arrived just in time to meet Wes before he left for work. I was soon introduced to Tilley and Scamp, they gave me quite a warm welcome. Leoni and I set out for lunch, it was quite a combination..Aussie woman, Brit woman dining in a Chinese Restaurant in America !!!! We enjoyed our lunch and had good chat.... lol just to keep ya wondering Sash !!!

I then caught up with Judy, another friend from cyber land. After dinner she took me on sight seeing tour of Nashville, including a few very scenic parking lots...lmao. We went through the Gaylord Opryland Hotel. I've never seen a hotel so huge and picturesque. We then returned to Spring Hill and shared a room and talked and gossiped away the night.... as women do..lol

22nd May - Spring Hill, Tennessee to Kings Mountain, North Carolina - 456 miles

I set out with a full day of driving ahead of me to get to Betty's. I covered 4 states, and with 7 pee stops..lol I know tmi. I stopped at Dalton in Georgia for lunch. Dalton woulda been proud of Nanny having lunch at McDonalds. The traffic all day was rather hectic, but quite proud of myself I conquered Atlanta !!!... yeah yeah I know I've not got to New York yet. I've been quite proud of myself so far of my driving expertise...not bad for a country gal who lives in a small town 3500 population with one set of traffic lights huh.huh...lmao. I'm a true Tasmania Devil no stopping me now !!! I phoned Betty with an estimated time of arrival of 5pm....well hmmmm I'm driving north on the I 85 and then the traffic just stopped...oh great a wreck up ahead...I moved 5 miles in an hr...grrrrrrrrr. Back at full speed again and 2 more pee stops...lol I finally arrived at Bettys at 6.30pm. I proved I haven't lost my multitasking skills, I can take pics and drive at same time and even stay on the road...lol..yeah yeah bad Lozzy. The 1st thing Bet did after the hugs of course, was play Waltzing Matilda on her keyboard...great welcome to your home Bet thank you. After changing outta my sweaty clothes off to dinner we went, I met Bettys son and daughter-in-law, then off to meet 3 of her great grandbabies..her pride n joys...and they love her too. Then back home and we chatted up a storm.

Had a relaxing day today at Betty's. Betty's great granddaughter Lexie, 5 yrs old had a sleepover with Grandma Betty. She is the cutest lil girl and loves her Grandma Betty very much. I cut Betty's grass cause I needed the exercise and enjoyed being outside. I've come to the conclusion I'll trade free lodging for manual labour....I can cook, cut grass, do laundry, clean house (don't do windows n toilets), run a taxi, you name it !!!! lmaoooooo and I work Cheap !!!!.AND NOOOO Sash you can't pile up your dishes from now til I get there...hmm your Mother warned me !!!!! lmfao. Betty's grandson Robbie called in this evening with his wife Melissa, and eldest daughter Daisie. It's not hard to tell how much Betty's family adores her.

Boy oh Boy did I experience true country home cooking today American Style !!! Sunday lunch at Betty's sisters Eva and her husband Junior's home. Also met Betty's brother RC. Ok here's the menu chicken dumplings, candied sweet potato, home made silver queen sweet white corn, macaroni cheese bake, green beans, marinated slaw, devilled eggs, tomato and onion. Followed by Chocolate Cobbler pudding and Cherry Pie. Is it any wonder why I felt like a beached whale and needed a nanna nap in the afternoon....lmao I did manage to find the energy to soak up some sunshine and wash my car during the afternoon. I had a very productive evening planning the rest of my trip and working out dates...I will publish those tonight.

Leaving Betty's today to hit the road again!!!! sniff sniff I love you dearly Betty and can't thank you enough for allowing me in your home and I enjoyed immensely the time I had with you and especially meeting part of your family.

Next destination.. Monday off to Charlotte to ride around the nascar track...rev heads eat ya heart out !!! then heading up East Coast to New York - more dates to follow this weekend. If you live in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, or eastern Pennsylvania give me yell I'll come visit you too....and the northern states above New York on route to Montreal.
