groetjes from Holland
4th Oct London to Amsterdam via British Airways

I left London Sat morning, after dropping off the car and
departing Heathrow Airport, on route to Amsterdam via British Airways. I was met
at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam by Jaap aka tigerjaap and his girlfriend Kaiva.
After clearing through customs I then went collect my baggage, I couldn't find a
trolley anywhere to load on all my luggage. I then decided to just grab one case
and take that through first then go back for the second one. I attempted to
re-enter the baggage section only to set off the dam alarms !!!!. Jaap stood
there in shock. !!! I am sure he thought dumb Aussie woman....lmao.
Amsterdam to Heelsum - 98 klms

We arrived at Jaap's home late afternoon, chatted away the
evening and also enjoyed a lekker ( nice ) dinner prepared by Kaiva. Today we
toured Kasteel Doorwerth, the castle was built in 1260. We then went sight
seeing around the area with a brief a stop at a local pub. The reason I say
brief ONE beer did me in...lmao boy they have strong stuff over here...lmao 6%
alcohol !!!! Anymore I woulda been legless...lmao. We returned home and relaxed
for a few before heading out to dinner at Oosterbeek to a pancake restaurant.
The meal was delicious as was the company.

Monday we went to town, sat at a nice cafe for coffee and Jaap
just had to order apple strudel...mmmm it was so yummy too.... like I needed
it...lmao. We then went grocery shopping cause I was cooking dinner...I am so
glad I had a translator with me..lol trying to buy food all in dutch is no easy
task...lol We tried several places to buy a pumpkin to make soup and finally
managed to find some small ones. Home we went and I prepared dinner...pumpkin
soup, which Jaap did peel the pumpkins and lasagne.

Oct 7th - Heelsum to Gouda - 98 klms

Today we were off to cheese country, the town of Gouda. The
market place was the first place of call, we then picked up a tourist map of the
township and the sights to see. We walked from place to place alongside the many
canals taking in several of the attractions. We visited St Janskerk (St John's Church), it's
the longest church in the Netherlands with 70 stained glass windows and the
organ pipes were just beautiful. We visited several candle shops and the cheese
making museum. Also the 2 huge windmills in the town. Jaap then took his life
into in own hands and let me drive home...lol
